Evaporative cooling involves in evaporation of liquid mainly water into surrounding air that cools an element or a liquid in contact with it. It is a physical phenomenon. At the time of liquid convert into gas, the stage changes and soak up the heat. The overall process is called evaporation of latent heat. As water is non-toxic and abundant which easily vaporizes in any type of climate, it is a very good cooling agent.

The main fact of evaporative cooling is water should have heat applied to it to convert from a liquid to vapor. The heat is taken from the water that can be in the same liquid condition and create liquid in cooler form when evaporation happens. This same principle follows in evaporative cooling as moisture which gives cooling for buildings and machinery.

The Types

  1. Direct cooling: Direct cooling requires very simple form machinery with just basic components to cool the air. It is perfect for the dry weather where we need humidity in the air.
  2. Indirect cooling: Both the cooling system work in the same principle the only difference is that in indirect cooling system heat exchanger cools the space.

The Process

Water can detain a huge amount of heat hence the temperature remains the same. The heat accumulation in water is known as latent heat. From a different source, water soaks up the heat and transforms it into a cooler state. While water absorbs a large amount of heat, it vaporizes and turns from a liquid state to a gas form. With taking the additional heat, gas leaves the exterior area so as the output is decreased amount of heat leaving.

The Benefits of Direct Evaporative cooling Process:

Evaporative cooling involves in uses of large volumes which force air with the help of keen corners, little outlet, and small vessel. We just need to roar the air into large tenanted rooms.

Here are some major benefits of direct cooling:

  1. Low in cost: Because of the simple machinery it is lower in cost.
  2. Filtration: It helps to remove and filter dust particles that are present in the air.
  3. Energy efficient: They use less power to operate.
  4. Eco-friendly: Because they cause fewer emissions and use less power they are eco-friendly equipment.

The Benefits of Indirect Evaporative cooling

Although direct evaporative coolers have some issues, indirect type of evaporative coolers always ready to sort out these pros. In this type of coolers, without moving nearer in straight contact with water, air gets chilled. This type of coolers can manage the upper level of humidity in the room. Here are the following Pros of indirect evaporative coolers:

  1. Less power consumption: The first and foremost advantage is power consumption which is very less in this cooler, so the output is very less electricity cost. The lack of a compressor can be benefited for no power prong. The areas where electricity is too much costly, the use of this type of coolers can be a wise decision.
  2. Low cost of operation: The cost of operation can be reduced by 50% in refrigerant air conditioning though it largely depends on the execution of the system which is used.
  3. Allows higher and better cooling than any other coolers: The weary air of any room can be conveyed to the cooling tower using this type of coolers. As the output, it shows that the temperature of the water has become lower. It allows creating more cooling.
  4. Efficient Pre-cooling function: In air condition and refrigerator, a pre-cooling function is needed. Through indirect evaporative coolers, it is done properly.

Evaporative cooling system not only cools the air it is one of the most environmentally friendly cooling systems present in current time that is also beneficial to health.
